Can’t tell what time the pictures were taken for either rally–especially the Beck one because it was a cloudy day. But we can look at the shadows in the One Nation pic and see that it was not taken at the start of the rally at high noon, when shadows would have been minimal.
Nor was it at the end of the rally, when the shadows would have been more elongated and stretched toward the lower right of the picture, as evidenced by the shadows in the sad video below of a One Nation speaker delivering her message to a handful of stragglers at 4:24pm ET.
If there’s any doubt about whether the Washington Monument photo was really taken on 10/02, here’s another angle where you can see that the t-shirt colors of the blocks of astroturf groups match up in both photos. (You can click on any photo to blow it up for better inspection.)
Thanks to Dan Collins and his editorial eagle eye, I’ve decided to not identify the end-of-the-rally stragglers as “stranglers.” Not as fun, but hey, this is internet journalism.
Also the Instapundit has a couple links to some other crowd size estimations.
Doug Ross has created an animated gif that flashes the overhead photos of the 10/02 and 8/28 rallies.
