Paul Ryan Is the WORST Negotiator

Sigh. Once again, the Republicans offer to fold their hand before the game has even begun.

The continuing resolution that is currently funding our budgetless government is set to expire on March 4. Various Republicans have seen this expiration as a superb moment to force concessions from the Democrats on a host of other issues in order to extend the CR—as well as set the stage for the upcoming battle over whether to raise the debt ceiling.

Democrats, in preparing their side for battle, are attempting to rally the media to their side, hoping they will stand with them if the Republicans do force a shut down of the government in an effort to get our wildly out-of-control spending just down to simple out-of-control.

Yet, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) goes on “Good Morning America” yesterday and unequivocally states that the Republicans won’t shut down the government. If the Democrats won’t work with them, he says the Republicans—who, Ryan seems to have forgotten, control the House—will just do another continuing resolution.

Show them your cards, Ryan. Then fold when they seem scared. That’s the way to win the hand…for them.

Mr. Ryan, please remember that it’s our children’s future that you are gambling with. You are losing badly. If you don’t know how to play the game, can’t keep a poker face, can’t handle the pressure, please turn your seat over to someone who can.
