Best Video: Hitler Finds Out Olbermann Was Fired

Sometimes a video comes along that grabs you by the collar, wrestles you to the ground and tickles you mercilessly from start to finish.

…This is not one of those videos, but it’s pretty close. (Don’t want to get your expectations up too high.)

The Prudy Prize committee hasn’t been able to determine who wrote the script (or did a masterful job in syncing the captioning with the audio), but this person deserves to be a professional political comedian if he/she isn’t already.

The video, a spoof on the German movie Downfall (whose director has tried to get all of the scores of spoofs of this scene pulled from YouTube, even though it has brought widespread fame to his film), shows Hitler’s reaction when his aides reluctantly inform him that his “childhood playmate” and “a white Reverend Wright” has been fired from MSNBC.

For its comedy gold, peeling off one fantastic joke after one superb Olbermann slam after one terrific jibe at the Left after another fantastic joke….and so on, the Prudence Prize for Best Video of the Week goes to “Hitler Finds Out Olbermann Was Fired.”

Note: If anyone knows who made the video, please let me know so that I can give him proper credit and tremendous kudos. The YouTube account only shows a name of JeffInJordan, but it’s unclear if Jeff created the video or just posted it.

Thank you, MSNBC, for providing the inspiration and the results!

Also, in a minor award category, the Best Twitter Hashtag of the Week goes to CuffyP (aka Cuffy Meigs) for coining #LOLbermann.

UPDATE: 6/19/11
Thanks to an astute commenter who found that I had misspelled Hitler throughout this entire piece as “Hilter.” Not once…but every single instance. (I have now corrected them all…I hope. It is apparently a spelling blind spot with me.) He was the first and only to call my attention to it in the 5 months it has been up. I’m grateful to him for pointing out the error. I feel like I’ve been walking around these past few months with my dress caught in the back of my pantyhose, and no one told me I was putting on such a fabulous show.
